Nick Gibb – Taking It To The Next Level

In early September, I became a full-time resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.  In order to pursue my athletic goals and dreams, the OTC has been a critical step in the right direction for my training and I have seen large gains in the couple of months I have been here.  The level of training that is required from us at the OTC is beyond anything I have experienced.   My training has nearly doubled!  I now have access to elite cycling and strength coaches who have developed and personalized programs to benefit me in each training block.  Having access to the recovery center, allows me to get massages and cold plunges to my desire on a weekly basis to ensure I am ready to take on the next day of training.

With the help of my awesome prosthetist at Abilities Unlimited, Jason Griffin, and Click Medical’s ClickFit Straps, we developed the best cycling AFO I have used to date! We also adapted the MagFit Straps onto my everyday walking AFO. The ability to quickly adjust the tension of the straps, allows me on the fly adjustability which has been a game changer.

To compete at Para-cycling Track Nationals in early December, will be a great stepping stone to analyze my performance going into the U.S Paralympics Track Cycling Open.

The U.S. Paralympics Track Cycling Open is in early February and is the qualifier for the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships Team.  This will take place in March 2018 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.  Making the Worlds Team will be my first big goal for 2018 and my first major International debut.

Keep the momentum going!  After World Championships I will have a very quick transition into my road season with hopes of making several UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup Teams.
